When I fire employees, I want them to hug me before leaving my office.
We discussed servant leadership in class tonight. One of my classmates gave this example of a servant leader and it suddenly hit me not like a train, but like a bright light: I want to be the person who gets the job done in a sincerely empathetic, respectful and genuine manner. I want to lead by example.
Done! Now I can answer that question confidently for the rest of my life. Check that off my circulating list of ponderings.
