Settling In

I'm happy to say that I've been settling into Brooklyn quite nicely. It's only been a few days, but I can honestly say that I love my neighborhood and am very happy here.  Oh, and this is the sign I see walking home everyday.  Not so bad, eh?



I thought I'd share a few of my new favorite spots with y'all so you can keep up with the goings on in my life. :)

First up...Troost NYC. Lizzie and I stumbled upon this genuinely homey, understated coffee shop when shopping for furniture.  We had no coffee pot, and we both live a caffeine-induced life, so I was quite pleased to find this place.  Luckily, the coffee was delicious and aromatic (and inexpensive too!). The service was quick and kind, and the interior had a great neighborhood feel to it.  Also, if you make it to the back of the shop, there's adorable little outdoor seating area.  It's almost like a retreat.  You'll see people studying and/or playing Scrabble inside.  Also, they do bingo on Wednesday nights, so I'll have to check that out soon.

Next? The Mark Bar.  This place is great for three reasons.  First, it's literally down the block.  Secondly, the Saints game was on, and this was especially important since we don't yet have cable. Thirdly, they not only allow puppies inside; they LOVE puppies.  Mollie Grace was welcomed with open arms by employees and other bar goers!  While watching the game, I also saw a flyer for free bagels on Sunday.  Hello, breakfast!  Also, the bartender knew my name within minutes.  People say it's a rarity that you meet kind people in New York; however, to be honest, I've only encountered kind, genuine, soulful people so far.

Oh...someone else is adjusting quite nicely to her new New Yorker lifestyle.  When she's not happily frolicking around on the roof, or going on a walk to sniff everything in sight, she can be found doing this:
