It's not November, but I'm giving thanks today

I just completed a yoga workout and I’m currently putting the finishing touches on a training session I’m giving tomorrow at City Year.  I love yoga, training, and City Year…so why do I feel stressed? Although I don’t have the answer to this question, I know what can snap me out of it quickly: consciously thinking about all the people, opportunities, things, and experiences I have had in my life. And I have a lot to be thankful for.

Here are just a few of the things I’m thankful for today:
- Memories of college
- Working at a job that doesn’t feel like a job
- Studying abroad in London
- Grammie and Papa who just make me smile no matter what
- Living in New York City
- Waking up to a happy puppy dog
- Having my sister as my best friend
- Having reliable transportation
- Making just enough money to make ends meet
- Spending time on the river kneeboarding
- Cross country friendships
- Not having to worry about where my next meal will come from
- Not being allergic to chocolate
- LOVE (most important of all)

Lesson Learned Today: There’s nothing wrong with a healthy level of stress, but once that stress reaches a level that doesn’t allow for enjoyment of your interests, do something about it.  First, you’ve got to figure out what that something is. For me, reminding myself of all the blessings in my life does the trick.  If that’s not enough, a good run or small shopping excursion usually does the trick.

Can’t determine a stress reliever for you? Check out this list for some great ideas.  I’m going to try #84 and #43.  What about you?
