Secrets & Inspiration

With graduation from my Masters program right around the corner, the job search has officialy arrived.

Especially recently, I’ve heard people mention how stressful this process can be.  Although I realize this can be a tough process, I want to make the best of it and even enjoy it!

So, I’m making a promise to myself. I hereby vow that I will stay positive, believe in my skills and abilities and know that the right job for me will surface. Most importantly, I will not write off any job opportunities without trying—if I don’t think I can do it, why should anyone else?

I’m believing in the secret 100% meaning that thinking positively can and will have a profound impact on my happiness, career success and health. I’m putting good vibes out there and hoping I get some back. :)

If you’re interested in learning more, Rhonda Byrne wrote a book called The Secret.  Although I haven’t read the book yet, I find some of the quotes in the book particularly calming and assuring. Here’s one to ponder:

The reason visualization is so powerful is because as you create pictures in your mind of seeing yourself with what it is you want, you are generating thoughts and feelings of having it now.”

This reminds me a lot of inspiration boards. Have you heard of these?  I made one back in college. My most powerful dream since I was 14 years old was to move to New York City. I decided to make an inspiration board of things that I’d either collected from New York, reminded me of New York, or were things I wanted to do while there.  My inspiration board was a 12x12 canvas with subway maps, photographs, show tickets, receipts, metro cards, and other goodies adhered to it.  Just a year after I made my inspiration board, my dream came true!

I still have big dreams and a big heart and big goals to get me there.  It sounds to me like it’s time for another inspiration board.  Here are some things that I’ll put on it:

  • New York photograph…I want nothing more than to live there again

  • 135…a goal weight I’d like to reach for health and happiness—thanks to Weight Watchers for helping me get closer to reaching it!

  • Whole Foods…I want to be able to make enough money to afford organic, natural, healthful foods

  • Job… I want a job where I can exercise my skills and passions, learn everyday, and express my creativity

It looks like my inspiration board needs some more developing…more on that later.

As for now, everyone have a good evening!  I’m taking my puppy on a walk.  She needs a little TLC.
